Micromesh

Micromesh is an extremely fine metal mesh which can be created from a range of ductile materials.

Designed for use in challenging or technological and scientific applications, micromesh is a lightweight precision product that retains all of the benefits of expanded metal mesh: it is strong yet flexible, offers high conductivity and is very cost effective.

As a very fine metal mesh, micromesh’s qualities make it suitable for use in a variety of industries such as:

  • Aerospace
  • Chemical processing
  • Food and beverage processing
  • Automotive
  • Wind energy
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Advanced engineering

It can be used in applications including EMI shielding, lighting strike protection and filtration, and in battery cells and fuel cells.

Why is micro expanded metal so cost effective?

The expanding process involves slitting and stretching the material to create holes, rather than punching them out, as would be the case in a perforation process. This means that there is significantly less waste of raw materials when micromesh is manufactured. In turn, this produces immediate cost savings when compared to perforated metal.

This is especially useful when high value raw materials – such as platinum, titanium and nickel – are being used in the manufacturing process and, micromesh is also recyclable.
