We’re extremely proud to announce that two of our machine operators, Charlie Nicholson and Colin Smith, are celebrating 45 years of working at The Expanded Metal Company.
Charlie and Colin both joined The Expanded Metal Company when they were only 16 and since then have worked in various roles within the company.
Charlie started work as an apprentice and spent time in different departments before stepping into his current role, which he has performed for 35 years.
Colin joined us straight from school on a two-week working trial in our warehouse. After successful completion of this he was offered a full-time job as a machine assistant before progressing to his current role – as a machine operator.
Commenting on his work anniversary, Charlie said: “I joined when I was 16 years old as an apprentice – I haven’t worked anywhere else – and I have loved every minute of it. I have met many friends and a lot of different people.”
Philip Astley, managing director of the Expanded Metal Company, said: “On behalf of the team at The Expanded Metal Company, I’d like to congratulate Charlie and Colin on their work anniversaries. They have decades of experience between them and a real passion for our products. We greatly appreciate all they have done for the company and our customers. “It’s fantastic to see such loyalty in our employees – their hard work has helped us to get to where we are today.”
