Expanded metal’s versatility and flexibility make it a popular choice for set, costume and prop design – and our metal mesh products have appeared across many TV, film, theatre and music productions.

Products from our aluminium mesh range, for instance, can be used as a substrate in the creation of stage props such as sculptures, and our foil meshes can be compressed or folded to create new shapes.

Given the industrial ‘feel’ of much expanded metal and the way it can be used to enhance eye-catching lighting effects, you’ll often find it used in science fiction films and TV shows, where it can be seen on space station walkways, elevators or in the panelling of spaceship corridors!

Our walkway mesh products can be used to create full stages, with walkway meshes also used in stairs and ramps for stage access and visual features. Where good underfoot grip is a must, our walkway meshes are ideal as they are designed to provide high levels of slip resistance.

Lightweight aluminium meshes can be used to create drapes, which are especially useful in outdoor environments, as wind can pass through the mesh more easily. Again, lighting can be used with the metal mesh drapes to create stunning effects.

Lighter expanded metal products, including aluminium foil mesh, are commonly used in costume design and fine meshes such as 901A and our micromesh range can be used in the creation of masks or more elaborate, bulkier costumes.
